Supplementary Budget 2009 - Overview of How Childcare Was Affected
The Early Childcare Supplement is to be halved to €500 from May 1st and scrapped by the end of the year. However, a free pre-school year is to be introduced for parents of children in daycare. The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews, T.D. welcomed today's Budget announcement by the Minister for Finance of the introduction next January of a free pre-school year for children.
